2024, You’re on the home straight

Share with a friend

The eagle-eyed may have noticed I’m a day late with my newsletter this week. The busy-ness of the run up to the festive period has kicked my backside this week! I have promised myself to model not being hung up about not getting to everything on my list and truly I’m not! I’ve made time for friends and family, I’ve focussed on other important aspects of my work and I’ve done probably more Christmas shopping and planning than required! This week my newsletter is late and very abridged and that’s ok. I hope you’re able to say the same for any of the balls you might be dropping, let them drop, grab an eggnog and remember you’re doing your best. Even if you’ve not managed to do your  absolute best, you’re doing the best you can and that will do.

We’ve made it through 2024

It’s the home straight, we’re so very nearly there. Some of you will be feeling glad to see the back of a difficult year. Some will be grieving. Some will be hopeful. Some will be overwhelmed with work plus everything else. Some will be ready to breathe new life into a career you put on hold to accommodate for your fertility journey. Whatever your situation and however you feel about 2024, as we near Christmas (if you celebrate, the festive holiday period if you don’t) and the lazy Betwixtmas days before new year – just remember you made it through. Perhaps not unscathed but you made it through none the less. Despite any of the challenges you may have had to navigate, you have grown, you have learned, you have loved and been loved. And whatever 2025 has in store for you, know that there will be many moments of joy, many successes and many things to celebrate. Yes there will be moments of challenge and of sadness for us all – but you can do hard things. You are stronger than you think and whether you are aware of them or not, there are people who admire you and everything you do.

In amongst the rest this festive period and the giving, the eating, the old-movie-watching, I hope you are able to find moments to celebrate you. It’s not self-indulgent at all to do so, if anyone deserves to recognise how amazing they are it’s you.

Back in the new year

Speaking of Betwixtmas, I’ve committed to switching off until the new year. I intend to fully forget what day of the week it is until 1st Jan. Things I also intend to forget are how many Celebrations I’ve eaten and when I last ate…because surely it’s always time for another chocolate or another mince pie?

So no newsletter from me until Jan. Until then, the merriest of Christmases and the happiest of new year’s to you all. I’m so grateful for this little community of people who understand the challenges in balancing fertility and career. Supporting you is the purpose I found through my own challenges and I’m inspired every day by the amazing people I meet through my work. I wish every happiness to each of you.
